Born in Ethiopia and raised in Virginia Beach, KENNA has created an amazing album of sonic soul. Not neo-crooner-Al Green wannabe soul… Sonic, Depeche Moded Neptunian Soul with a banging kick drum. Oh, and to get you bright eyed and bushy tailed; he has Chad from the Neptune’s on the boards. Songs like “Hell Bent” could be sung inside a cathedral with a huge back-up of Gospel singers. This album is emotional. Rising and falling, sadness to joy. Isn’t that what music is supposed to do for us, make us FEEL something.
