Jon puts down the schlitz, grabs Marge and the kids and heads off to the movies… next stop HELLBOY! See what Jon had to say about the “Great Red One”.
Stars: Ron Perlman, Selma Blair
I’m down w/ HellBoy. Ron Perlman gives an amazing performance as the big red one in Guillermo del Toro’s (Blade II, Cronos) high-flyin’ action, er romance, story. Indeed, HellBoy not only beats up monsters that are pissing off average joe’s, but he seems to listen to a lot of Lemonheads and Elliot Smith. You guessed it, he’s super-sensitive!
Take for example his longing for the strange-yet-attractive-goth-chick-with-pyrokinetic-powers named Liz. HellBoy is hell-bent to get in the fiery pants of Liz, his pyro ex-girlfriend.And, save her from the mental ward.
Ron Perlman as HellBoy was most definitely entertaining. He played one of the best wisecrackin’, monster smashin’, PG-13, characters I’ve ever seen. He kinda reminded me of what Burt Rynolds would look like if he took steroids and somehow turned into a demon.
One of the best parts of this movie was the bad guys. If you took the costumes and settings from the first Indiana Jones flick, hired the ugliest motherfuckers you could find, and gave ‘em some bad acid, then you would’ve replicated all the villains in this movie. Mad cool.
HellBoy is a classic action-filled picture with tons of modern special effects to keep u wanting more.
