De La Soul: The Grind DateSince the days of 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul has been using thorough production and concentrated lyrics to remain light years ahead of this music business nonsense. The Grind Date is yet another addition to De La’s string of genius albums. Since the days of 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul has been using thorough production and concentrated lyrics to remain light years ahead of this music business nonsense. Using the fundamentals of boom-bap drum taps as well as conceptualized topics, they breathe fresh air into this keyboard saturated production period we are in. With special appearances from Ghostface, Common, Flava Flav, M.F. Doom, and Carl Thomas, The Grind Date is a beginning to end listen, keeping the music and lyrics dynamic enough to keep your full interest. De La has done it again and it’s no surprise. If your one of those Fisher Price Rap types, this album is NOT FOR YOU. Best summed up, to quote Kon “it’s grown folks music”. Now go buy it so De La can make money to record another one. Rating 4.5 out of 5. - Dirty Mike”Most rappers is real hard but still hardly rhyming”
