Percy charts his own path by using established mediums in new ways to create different genres of art. On October 22nd, 1980, Percy Fortini Wright was born in America but his roots are as diverse as his styles. With ethnicities ranging from Black to Norwegian, Italian & American Indian, Percy charts his own path by using established mediums in new ways to create different genres of art, bringing life to spray paint in the same way an oil painter can capture those subtleties of colors and shade. Percy was formally trained in traditional oils and figurative methods and graduated with his Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Boston. He plans to achieve his Masters degree in Fine Arts and teach art at a college level. Percy strayed from his traditional oils and uses predominantly aerosol paint but still dabbles with the brush. His canvas can range from a city wall, an old piece of plywood or even a traditional stretched canvas. His work is very reality based and is inspired by life’s elements. “I walk with a beat in my head and it compels me to paint in a sporadic, quick, mark making method. The diversities in my cultures and character allow me to be inspired as well as to inspire many types of people with my work.” Working his days as a laborer and mason’s apprentice allows Percy to have time to visualize his work and appreciate his time spent on his art.
