What do you get when you take Brazilian Funk and Miami Bass mixed with a dash of indie rock and southern rap blended on high for 60+ minutes? You get Diplo, one of the most renowned DJs of the new millennium. His sets keep the parties banging for hours on end. His new record label, Mad Decent, plans to showcase some of there finest new talent across America in the coming months. Diplo will find himself in Boston this Monday along side his protégé group, Bonde De Role. Bonde, a trio from outside of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, boasts both a male and female MC with a DJ. The drums hit you hard and the eroticism of the vocals hit you even harder. The beats and rhythms are reminiscent of ones youthful out bursts down on the corner. There mission is too bring the traditional ghetto-slum style of Brazilian baile funk that they grew up admiring out in the suburbs of Rio to the rest of the world. Diplo beliefs that Bonde can accomplish this hard task because of their “more accessible, more Americanized take on the form.” Diplo and Bonde De Role will be appearing this Monday, July 17th at Great Scott (located on the corner of Harvard Ave. and Commonwealth Ave) in Allston. This event is 18+ and $15, doors at 9pm. MaimZ
