So the fan mail has just been pouring in over the past few weeks. The people just want to know more about this infamous MaimZ character. Now some of you may think you are ready to journey deep into the mind of a dark dark soul, you may not be. So Ill spare ya. But I will give you the low down on what is fly, hip, gangsta, raw, street, and just straight ill nasty, ya feelin me? Cause that is what I am here to do. I hope y’all realize how lucky you are. I wish I had as sick of a blog too read when I was lost. But no, I had to become street savvy on my own. Which has its benefits but I wanted to share my knowledge with the scene so I can say I am doing my part. Music: Buy It: Jay Dee – The Shining Anyone who sleeps on this album is straight bootleg. Producers such as Pharrell and Kanye West have said that Jay Dee was one of their biggest sources of inspiration. For those of you who are way out of the loop Jay Dee (aka J. Dilla) passed away from a rare blood disorder in February. His final gift to the world, The Shining, features the hottest recording artists the hip-hop world has to offer including Busta Rhymes, Common, Dwele, Pharoahe Monch, and Madlib. DON’T SLEEP ON THIS ALBUM. R.I.P Jay Dee Download it: Big L – The Archives 1996-2000 I am one of Big L’s biggest supporters but I still can’t find the heart to buy this CD (maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are only 500 pieces worldwide.) Many of the songs on this disc have been on the internet for quite some time. It’s hard buying a CD that I have basically already owned for a few years. But, if you are a collector you better buy this one quickly cause it will be gone before you can say FLAMBOYANT. Avoid it: Hootie and the Blowfish – Live in Charleston Need I say more. Movies: Anticipate it: Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan Sacha Baron Cohen is bringing one of his many alter egos to the big screen. I had my doubts at first (for those of you that saw Ali G in Da House, you probably agree with me.) But after seeing this hilarious trailer I have no idea how I am gonna wait till November 3rd. Check it out. See it: Little Miss Sunshine Little Miss Sunshine features an all star cast (Steve Carell, Greg Kinnear, and Alan Arkin) and the performances live up to their names. The movie has great dialog and a hilarious plot line. What else would you expect from famed Smashing Pumpkins video directors Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton? Rent It: ATL I thought ATL was a dope flick. Some didn’t but this aint written for them. T.I proves to the world that he can act and the plot line is actually pretty rad. Think of it has Boyz N the Hood meets Romeo & Juliette meets Goodfellas. A must for anyone who is down wit the Durty Southhhh. Fashion: Okay lets face it, the new trend in shoes and shirts and what have you is exclusive low run items that will never be remade. Personally I am down with the gear at Bodega. They got raw shoes that you really cant find anywhere else. The store is like nothing you have seen before, I guarantee it… lets just leave it at that. A new up and coming company is Don’t Say Bingo. The track jackets are crazy sick and I am getting my hands on one as soon as they hit the streets. A personal favorite is Seedless clothing. I have been buying stuff there for years and they always have fly gear….or should I say high gear. Anyways, I just spilled my guts. I’m tired. Did you hear that Osama Bin Laden is a huge Whitney Houston fan? I don’t make this shit up I swear. MaimZ
